Purpose of This Disclosure

Ebykes.nl provides information, comparisons, reviews and buying guides covering e-bikes, e-bike accessories and spare parts. Some of the links you’ll find across the site are affiliate links. This page explains, in full, what that means, how it works, and what it does and doesn’t change about the recommendations we make.

We’re publishing this disclosure because we believe you should always know when money can change hands as a result of a click — not because we’re required to bury it here and hope you don’t read it. If you take away nothing else from this page: our opinions are ours, and no retailer or brand pays for a better review or a higher ranking.

What Affiliate Marketing Means

Affiliate marketing is a common, entirely legal advertising arrangement where a retailer or brand pays a website a small commission for sending them a customer who goes on to make a purchase. It costs the retailer a fraction of the sale price; it costs you, the shopper, nothing at all.

In practice, this usually works through a tracked link: when you click a product or “Check price” link on ebykes.nl, a small tracking code follows you to the retailer’s site. If you buy something during that visit (or, depending on the program, within a set window afterwards), we may receive a commission.

How We Use Affiliate Links on This Website

You’ll typically find affiliate links in places like:

• Product pages and comparison tables for e-bikes, batteries, motors, locks, lights, child seats and other accessories;
• “Best of” and buying-guide articles, such as round-ups of recommended e-bikes by category or budget;
• Reviews of specific models, brands, components or spare parts;
• Deal and price-drop alerts linking to a retailer’s current offer.

Not every link on ebykes.nl is an affiliate link — plenty of our links (manufacturer specification sheets, safety guidance, government resources) are simply informational, with no commercial relationship attached.

Programs We Participate In

We may participate in affiliate and partner programs including, for example, [list your confirmed, actual affiliate programs here] — such as Awin, Daisycon, TradeTracker, the Amazon EU Associates Programme, the bol.com Partnerprogramma, and direct affiliate or referral arrangements with individual e-bike brands, component manufacturers and retailers.

This list is illustrative and will be kept up to date as our specific commercial relationships change. Where we hold a direct partnership with a particular brand or retailer, we’ll generally say so on the relevant page as well as here.

It Never Costs You More

Clicking an affiliate link and buying through it never increases the price you pay. The commission we may earn comes out of the retailer’s own marketing budget or margin — it is not added to the shelf price, and in many cases retailers offer the same price (or better, via exclusive codes we’re sometimes given) whether or not you came from an affiliate link.

Our Editorial Independence

Whether a link earns us commission plays no role in whether a product appears on the site, how it’s rated, how it’s ranked in a comparison table, or what we say about it in a review. We test, research and compare e-bikes, accessories and spare parts using the same criteria regardless of the commercial relationship (or lack of one) behind a given link.

If we think a product is mediocre, overpriced, or simply not worth your money, we’ll say so, even where an affiliate relationship exists. Where a brand has sent us a product for review or covered our testing costs, we’ll disclose that separately on the relevant page — that’s a different relationship from a standard affiliate link, and we treat it as such.

How to Recognise Affiliate Content on Ebykes.nl

In line with Dutch advertising transparency rules, we aim to make commercial links clearly recognisable at the point you encounter them, not just on this page. Depending on the format, you may see:

• A short label such as “affiliate link” or “sponsored” directly beside or beneath a product link or comparison table;
• An introductory note at the top of buying guides and “best of” articles stating that the page contains affiliate links;
• A general disclosure banner or footnote on review and comparison pages linking back to this page.

If you ever come across a commercial link on ebykes.nl that isn’t clearly labelled, please let us know at support@ebykes.nl so we can fix it — that’s a genuine miss on our part, not an acceptable outcome.

Cookies & Tracking

Affiliate links generally work using a tracking cookie or similar identifier placed by the retailer or affiliate network when you click through, so that a resulting purchase can be correctly attributed to us. This is separate from, and in addition to, any analytics or advertising cookies described in our Cookie Policy, which governs cookie use across the site in full, including how to manage your preferences.

Our Legal Commitment

This disclosure is maintained in line with the Nederlandse Reclame Code (Dutch Advertising Code), issued by the Stichting Reclame Code, and the transparency principles of the EU Unfair Commercial Practices Directive (2005/29/EC), as implemented in Dutch law and enforced by the Autoriteit Consument & Markt (ACM). The core principle we design around is straightforward: any commercial relationship that could reasonably affect your decision to buy something must be clear, upfront, and understandable without effort — never hidden at the bottom of a page, disguised, or buried among unrelated text.
